I’m a senior finance executive based in Perth, Western Australia. Over more than 15 years I’ve worked in ASX-listed mining and resources, regulated utilities, and technology, across Australia, Canada, and Brazil, from the remote Ekati Diamond Mine in the Northwest Territories to Board rooms in Perth.

Most of my career has been spent building and steadying finance functions: standing up a new corporate function after South32’s demerger from BHP, refinancing debt, putting in systems and controls, and helping CEOs and Boards think through capital decisions.

I’m a Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ), a CPA in Canada, and a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

What I write about

  • Finance literacy. Plain-English explanations of the things I discuss with friends and colleagues, from reading financial statements to how companies fund themselves.
  • Technology. The home lab, self-hosting, automation, and AI tools I’m experimenting with, including this site.
  • Home improvement. Projects around the house, what worked, and what I’d do differently.

Everything here is my own view, not financial advice, and not the view of any employer.
